In the Department of Biology Education at the Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education, Kiel University, the following position is immediately available:
Research Scientist (E 13 TV - L, initially for a 3 - year term)

The successful candidate will conduct empirical research on the International Biology Olympiad (IBO) and on the promotion of gifted students and high performers in the area of biology educa-tion. The scientific work is tightly linked to the IBO Seat in Kiel. Here, the successful candidate will establish the structural requirements for data collection and data storage of IBO data sets in order to answer innovative research questions. It is intended that the successful applicant will be employed beyond the 3-year term via third party funding, providing a long-term perspective.
Due to the close overlap with the IBO in terms of content, this position entails the honorary ex-ecutive position of the IBO Seat. Further information on IBO can be found at www.ibo-

Requirements:
-Excellent Ph.D. in educational (science) research or natural sciences
-Fluent in spoken and written English
-Excellent communication skills
-Experience with programming languages
-High social competence and interest in working in interdisciplinary and multicultural teams
Added advantages are:
-Experience with competitions for gifted students
-Experience with empirical science education research
-Experience with raising third party funding
